The Modern Language Teachers Association of Western Australia is holding their state conference on Friday 29th July and Saturday 30th July 2022.


The conference brings together languages experts from across the state and overseas. It also provides updates with the issues relating to languages learning and teaching including the languages curriculum and effective languages teaching and learning strategies.


The MLTAWA is the peak languages body of Western Australia. Its spans over 90 years of history as a languages Association in the state.

 The Arabic Language Teachers Association [ALTAWA] is affiliated to the MLTAWA. On Saturday 30th July, the Arabic Language Teaches Association will be holding a symposium with two Arabic teaching professionals:  Ms Hoda Nawar

  • Dr Nadia Selim: Associate lecturer, University of Sydney [via Zoom]. The motivation and engagement of non-Arab Muslim adolescents learning Arabic at Australian Islamic Schools

  • Sr Hoda Nawar: Arabic Teacher: Australian Islamic College Teaching practices that enhance students’ skills both in L1 and L2 and raise intercultural awareness: the case of teaching Arabic in WA schools.
